What Will You Feel Through the Racing Wheels?

  • Vibration: Built-in vibration motors produce rumble effects that you feel through the steering wheel, depending on the game and input mode.
  • Gear driven force feedback: You feel the wheel push or pull against your hands, with steering resistance changing through corners and as tire grip changes. Motors transmit these forces through gears, letting you sense steering load and jolts from the road.
  • Direct drive force feedback: You can feel smooth changes in steering weight, sharply defined curb impacts, and fine road-surface detail. The direct connection between the motor and steering wheel supports precise, rapid changes in force, helping subtle handling cues come through clearly.

What Do Constant and Peak Torque Mean?

Torque, measured in newton-metres (Nm), describes the wheelbase's turning force. Constant torque is the output it can sustain, such as when maintaining steering resistance through a long corner. Peak torque is the higher output available briefly, such as during a sharp curb impact. These ratings describe the wheelbase's capacity. The forces you actually feel depend on the game and your feedback settings.

Check Compatibility for Your Games

Platform compatibility is the first check. Before choosing a model, confirm that your games support its feedback system and any separate shifter you plan to use. Some console setups also require a compatible original controller.

PXN Racing Wheels

PXN Entry Level Racing Wheels: V3 PRO, V900 Gen2, and V9 Gen2

The V3 PRO, V900 Gen2, and V9 Gen2 offer different ways to get started with a wheel and pedals, from short steering movements to a clutch and separate gear lever setup.

Feature V3 PRO V900 Gen2 V9 Gen2
Steering rotation 180° Switchable 270° / 900° Switchable 270° / 900°
Wheel diameter 260 mm 280 mm 280 mm
Pedal sensing Potentiometer Hall effect Hall effect
Paddle shifter Two Two Two
Included gear lever Integrated sequential shifter No separate shifter included Separate 6+1 H-pattern shifter

V3 PRO or a 900° Racing Wheel?

  • V3 PRO: Short steering movements. Its 180° range gives you 90° of travel to either side of center, so you can reach the steering limits with relatively small hand movements.
  • V900 Gen2 or V9 Gen2: Wider steering travel. Their 900° range provides two and a half turns from lock to lock. When the game maps the same steering range across that rotation, you have more physical travel available for gradual adjustments.

Prefer a shorter range for another game? Both Gen2 models also offer a 270° setting. Configure the game's steering settings for the range you choose.

V900 Gen2 or V9 Gen2?

The main choice is whether you want a clutch pedal and a separate H-pattern shifter.

  • V900 Gen2: Paddle shifting or automatic driving. Its wheel-and-pedal package suits either approach, with no separate shifter to position beside your wheel.
  • V9 Gen2: Clutch-and-lever driving. Its three-pedal set includes a clutch, while the separate 6+1 H-pattern shifter lets you select six forward gears and reverse. Choose it if operating a manual gearbox is part of the experience you want.

Check manual-shifting support. Confirm that your chosen game and input mode support the V9 Gen2's shifter and clutch functions.

PXN V99 vs V10: Gear-Driven Force Feedback

Feature PXN V99 PXN V10
Drive system Gear driven, with dual gears + dual motors Gear driven
Wheel diameter 300 mm 270 mm
Grip material Rubber Suede
Wheel tilt adjustment No Yes, four positions
Maximum rotation 900° 900°
Encoder resolution 16-bit 16-bit
Paddle material Aluminum alloy Aluminum
Mobile app PXN Wheel PXN Wheel

Which differences matter for your setup?

  • Wheel size and grip: The V99 pairs a 300 mm steering wheel with rubber grips, while the V10 uses a 270 mm wheel with a suede surface. Consider how much room you have around your wheel and which grip material you'd prefer for longer driving sessions.
  • Wheel angle adjustment: The V10 offers four tilt positions, giving you another way to align the wheel with your seating position when your desk or stand height is fixed. The V99 has no tilt adjustment, so check whether its mounted angle suits your seat position.

Should You Also Consider the V10 Ultra or V10 Pro?

The V10 Ultra and V10 Pro share the V99 and V10’s 3.2 Nm peak torque rating, but use direct drive instead of gears to transmit steering forces. Both are compatible with PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The pedal package is the main distinction between them:

  • V10 Ultra: A two-pedal metal set for throttle and brake.
  • V10 Pro: A three-pedal plastic set that adds a clutch pedal for games and cars that support manual clutch operation.

PXN V10 Ultra Racing Wheel vs PXN VD4 PC Racing Wheel

PXN Direct Drive Racing Wheels: V10 Ultra, V10 Pro, and VD Series

V10 Ultra / V10 Pro vs VD4: Where Should You Start?

Feature V10 Ultra / V10 Pro VD4 Bundle
Compatible for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S PC
Torque rating 3.2 Nm peak 4 Nm constant / 5 Nm peak
Steering wheel 270 mm 280 mm W AS
Paddle material Plastic Aluminum alloy
Encoder resolution 15-bit 24-bit
PC software PXN SimRacing PXN SimRacing

Your platform determines the first choice. If you want to use the wheel across PC and a supported console, the V10 Ultra and V10 Pro offers that flexibility. The VD4 is for PC only.

The VD4's PXN Quick Release system lets you switch between compatible steering wheels fitted with the matching PXN connection. Its standard racing bundle includes the W AS wheel, PD HM throttle-and-brake pedals, and a Z8 desk clamp, giving you the main components for a desk-mounted setup.

VD4 vs VD6 vs VD10: How Much Torque Do You Want?

All three use a 20-pole low-inertia motor design, a 24-bit encoder, and PXN SimRacing software.

Wheel base Torque rating
VD4 4 Nm constant / 5 Nm peak
VD6 6 Nm constant / 7 Nm peak
VD10 10 Nm constant / 12 Nm peak

Higher torque lets a wheelbase deliver stronger steering resistance. It also gives you more room for changes in force: if cornering resistance already reaches the base's limit, a stronger curb impact can't produce a further increase. A higher-torque base can preserve that difference, provided your feedback settings keep the output within its capacity.

  • VD4: A starting point for your first direct drive setup if you prefer lighter steering resistance.
  • VD6: A step up if you want more steering weight through corners and stronger feedback peaks from bumps and curbs.
  • VD10: The highest-output option for heavier steering loads and more headroom for force peaks. You can adjust its strength to keep everyday steering comfortable.

Which Steering Wheel Configuration Should You Choose?

Steering wheel Bundle configurations Diameter Listed wheel weight Paddle material
W AS VD4 Bundle, VD6 Bundle 280 mm 1,050 g Aluminum alloy
W DS R2 VD10 + W DS R2 300 mm 1,500 g Aluminum alloy
W CS R2 VD10 + W CS R2 330 mm 1,800 g Carbon fiber
GT ONE GT ONE + VD6, GT ONE + VD10 300 mm 1,500 g Carbon fiber

Consider both the wheel's shape and the controls you'll use while driving.

  • W AS: The compact option supplied with the standard VD4 and VD6 bundles, with rotary encoders and RPM LEDs alongside its paddle shifters.
  • W DS R2: Consider its 300 mm D-shaped rim if you prefer a flat-bottom wheel for your racing setup.
  • W CS R2: Its larger, round rim is worth considering for rally or drifting if you prefer a continuous rim for regripping as you turn through a wide steering range.
  • GT ONE: Consider it for GT or Formula driving when you want more controls available on the wheel. Its rotary encoders, thumb encoders, seven-way switches, and dual-clutch paddles provide options for binding car adjustments and other functions in supported games.

Wheel diameter also affects the force you feel at the grips. A larger rim gives your hands more leverage, so the same wheel-base torque can feel lighter through a 330 mm wheel than through a smaller rim. Consider the base and steering wheel together when deciding how much force you want.

Before You Choose, Check the Complete Setup

Please check these three details for the exact configuration you've selected:

Game support: Confirm support for your platform, intended games, and the functions you plan to use.

Bundle contents: Identify any components you'll need to add. VD Series packages differ, so check the specific bundle listing.

Physical fit and connections: Check your desk's clamp clearance or your cockpit's mounting pattern, along with the connections required for equipment you already own.

Find Your Fit in the PXN Racing Wheel Range

Once you've confirmed platform compatibility, the feedback system is the clearest starting point: vibration, gear driven force feedback, or direct drive. Within each group, compare the steering range, controls, and configuration that will shape your driving experience.

Evaluate your final choices as a complete sim racing setup. The wheel, feedback system, pedals, and shifting controls should work together for the games you enjoy, at a total cost you're comfortable with.

FAQs

Q1: Does 900° Steering Rotation Mean a Racing Wheel Has Force Feedback?

No. 900° describes the wheel's rotation range, not whether it has force feedback. The V900 Gen2 and V9 Gen2 both offer 900° steering with vibration feedback, but neither has force feedback.

Q2: Can You Swap Steering Wheels Between Different PXN Wheel Bases?

Only between compatible models. VD Series bases accept supported steering wheels fitted with the matching PXN Quick Release system. The GT ONE, for example, supports the VD4, VD6, and VD10, but isn't compatible with the V10 Ultra. Confirm both wheel and base compatibility and the required connection before swapping.

Q3: Do All PXN Racing Wheel Bundles Include Pedals and a Shifter?

No. Contents depend on the exact package. The VD4 bundle includes a W AS wheel, PD HM two-pedal set, and Z8 desk clamp, but no separate shifter. The VD10 + W DS R2 bundle lists the base and steering wheel without pedals or a shifter. Check the specific bundle's packing list to identify any equipment you'll need to add.
